How often should you brush a Pomeranian?
Twice a week, for about ten minutes. During shedding (usually in spring and autumn), brush every day or almost.
My dog hates being brushed. What can I do?
Start short: two minutes, one area, then a treat. A session that doesn't hurt is what makes a dog accept the brush. On a knot, always hold the base of the hair between your fingers so you don't pull on the skin.
Does it work on a puppy?
Yes, and it's the best time to get them used to it. Between 4 and 7 months, puppies lose their baby coat: that's when knots form fastest.
Should you shave a Pomeranian in summer?
No. The double coat also protects them from the heat. And in some Pomeranians, the coat grows back poorly after shaving, sometimes not at all. Regular brushing is enough to remove excess undercoat.
My dog has felted, matted knots.
Don't force it. A matted patch should be removed by a groomer. Our tools then make sure it doesn't happen again.
